KEN CHAN - Teen Thespian

Ken Chan belongs to a talented new crop of young actors and performing artists in the Philippines today. He is also a renowned singer and model.

Aljur Abrenica is the true Filipino hunk, main man of many a television series and focus of many modeling campaigns in the Philippines and in Asia.

Piolo Pascual is the country's most celebrated actor in the Philippines today. Writing about Piolo and photographing him for the book remains to be one of the most sterling experiences in my profession. Being a true friend took on a new meaning, as this very private actor opened his home to me...i rummaged through his scrapbooks from childhood, invaded his fridge, and even followed him to bed and the bathroom. I wanted people to see how real this star is. And seeing that reality only added to his mystery, it seems. It was an honor and a pleasure I wanted to share with every reader of PIOLO:BELIEVING (A PICTORIAL BIOGRAPHY OF PIOLO PASCUAL). There were thousand of pictures, only 170 plus could be included in the book. Hopefully, I can post more of what I've taken of Piolo, here in this blog -- spicy and interesting snaps that didn't make it to print. Hope y'all stick around for another doze of PIOLO pics.

I don't quite remember how Derek looked like when he had a full head of hair. I thought about this when I shot Derek for Belo Man in 2012. The star of TV5's Kidlat really takes good care of his skin and his physique obviously.

After more than 10 years of matinee idolhood, actor Dennis Trillo emerges out of his Star Circle shell and collects accolades for his acting work in independent films and primetime TV shows. The phenomenal success of GMA's "My Husband's Lover" has catapulted him even higher in the celebrity spectrum, and now, he may be shopping for his preferred network.

Pinoy Big Brother is now an obscure memory of how this hunk, actor, endorser, model started off. Nowadays, he's got billboards, television shows, films, and huge advertising campaigns, thanks to his hard work (and Cornerstone, his management company), and the tried and tested fame mechanism of ABS-CBN Star Magic.

Belo Man, that new line of skin care products that focuses on the vanity needs of the metrosexual Asian male chose the perfect endorser. TV5's star hunk Derek Ramsay has his new billboards on EDSA, shame that I didn't shoot those :) . This is from the 2011 Belo Man campaign which I photographed for Belo.

I got into photography because I've seen how the power of a printed image has influenced people's decisions on just about any aspect of their lives...buying daily needs, where to study, what to eat, where to live, how to love. In its stark silence and immutability, a picture communicates volumes, even more than words can say. Who is in the picture can even more arresting, as the world is obsessed with celebrity, pomp, pain and triumph. The camera is my pen, and the image is my vision of life. Share with me.
